**We’re in the process of becoming a legal non-profit group in our own right.

**We’re looking for families to host children through ABRO with NH4C2.

**If you are interested in being a host family, we need to raise half of the funds ($700) by March 1st and the rest by April 1st.

**We are planning to participate in a kid’s consignment sale in March, so please collect new and gently used items that we can place in the sale.

**We’re thinking about hosting a banquet and silent auction in February to raise funds.

Hello, world.  I’m Tina and I’m starting a program called New Hope for Chernobyl’s Children.  I started thinking about this idea 2 years ago when I went on a mission trip to the tiny country of Belarus to teach Conversational English.  I met a young lady who had come to the USA with the American Belarussian Relief Organization http://www.abro.org and spoke English with a Southern accent!  She also seemed healthier than other young ladies her age in the country of Belarus.

Have you ever heard of the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster?  In 1986 a nuclear reactor in Chernobyl, Ukraine melted down and spread radioactive fallout into the surrounding area.  Most of the fallout landed on the tiny country of Belarus. The radioactivity is in the air, water, and food, because radioactivity does not break down for 24,000 years.  The contamination shatters the immune systems of the people there, especially the children.

My program will bring children from the effected areas of Belarus to my small town in Texas for clean air, water, and food.  If they leave there country for six weeks in consecutive years some of the radiation will deplete from their systems and they will be healthier.  So, I have partnered with ABRO http://www.ABRO.org to bring children in the summers.  I’m very excited about bringing these children!
